“I’ve got her on surveillance,” Ted said. “Third row, second person in. The main waiting area.”

Zander watched through the windshield as Andre parked the other SUV across the lot, where he could see them. But far enough away they wouldn’t be associated with each other. “How many people inside?”

After a few seconds, Ted came back. “Maybe a dozen, not including staff behind the counters. And two buses just pulled in. They’re offloading now, so if you’re going in, it’s a good time to do it.”

Isaac said, “Who’s going?”

“I’m guessing Gladstone has our pictures out there for whoever is looking to find us.” They didn’t have time to get someone else to do this. “Considering this is a major transport terminal, and he’s the DCS director, I figure he has the NSA tapped in.”

Isaac shook his head at Zander’s statement. “And he’ll find us, plus get someone here to pick us up inside of just a few minutes?”

Zander said, “That’s why we’ve got to be fast.”

Badger came on. “Or stealthy.”

“The way we do it,” Zander said, “those two are the same thing.”

They never made a distraction or spectacle if they could help it. Explosions notwithstanding.

“I’ll go in.”

Zander turned to the back seat, where Nora sat looking nervous. The boys objected in his earpiece.

He didn’t want to jump to a reaction the same way, so he said, “Why do you want to get in the middle of this?”

She ignored the team’s objections as well. Only Isaac was silent. In the other car, they were arguing loudly in everyone’s ear.

Zander said, “Hush.” Silence filled the line. “Nora?”

“It’s easier for me to hide my appearance. There’s no way my dad is looking for me here.”

“The FBI, or the police, could be looking for you.”

She was wanted in connection with a girl’s death, and the criminal activity her father had told the world she used the foundation as a cover for. Who knew how wide the reach was? She could be walking right into her father’s hands.

The idea of her doing that made him want to squirm in his seat.

Isaac said, “She is right about that. We can’t change our hairstyles easily. All we can do is throw on a hat.”

“We don’t have enough time for her to dye her hair,” Andre pointed out.

“No,” Nora said. “But if anyone has a scarf, I can cover it. Give me some sunglasses, and you’ll never be able to tell it’s me.”

Isaac said, “You’ll have to make sure your ears are covered, at least partially. It’s possible to identify you that way.”

When she frowned, Zander figured he should explain. “Ears are like fingerprints, in a way. No two people have the same ears. If the feds have a picture of you, they can use them to identify you. It’s a long shot but still possible they’ll be able to tell it’s you.”

She nodded. “Okay. So send me in.”

He figured this was about her having something to prove. “You don’t have to do this.”

Judah said, “I could go in. Chicks dig a British accent, right? I could convince your housekeeper to go with me.
